About

Thank you for visiting!

Matthew Hiemstra, Lianne Hiemstra, Owners of Trinkets and ThymeWe own a small hobby farm just outside of Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) in the small town of Embrun. Since our March 2020 move in, we've been working to develop the property into a flourishing tree and plant nursery alongside our passions for antiques, decor and all things local.

We ship hardware and garden decor from the "warehouse" in our basement and converted a shed (that the previous homeowners used to house emus in) into an adorable little roadside stand full of antiques and decor. Our roadside stand is surrounded from spring to fall with all kinds of trees, shrubs, perennials and other plants including a large selection of fruit plants and native plants that help support bird and insect populations.

We currently carry over 1700 plant varieties on our online garden center with many of these available April to November at the roadside stand and we're working to add more and more varieties every year to our selection. During the winter season, we continue to offer plants available by pre-order as well as a selection of vegetable, herb and flower seeds. Our hardware, home and garden decor, local food and handmade items ship out year round and we continue to work at increasing our selection for each of these categories as well.

Trinkets and Thyme History

Unofficially we launched in 2010, buying and selling second hand rustic decor on kijiji and selling the occaisional plant division at local garage sales. Officially, we opened for business on July 6, 2018 as a regular vendor at many local flea markets in the Ottawa area and selling our hardware online via the popular craft marketplace Etsy. You can still find our hardware on Etsy or visit our hardware section here.
